Description

Under the supervision of a Licensed Nurse, the Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) performs direct resident care duties within the scope of their professional certification and assists in maintaining a positive physical and psychosocial environment for the residents.

Responsibilities
  • Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), including eating, showering and bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and changing bed linens.
  • Transfer and reposition residents safely to and from beds, chairs, and other areas.
  • Support and participate in resident activity programs.
  • Prepare residents for meals and snacks, assist with feeding as needed, and accurately record food and fluid intake.
  • Follow daily care plans; perform assigned restorative and rehabilitative procedures; monitor and report changes in resident condition to the charge nurse; document care on resident records and flow sheets; and report accidents or incidents promptly.
  • Adhere to safety and sanitation policies and promptly report injuries or violations to a supervisor.
  • Understand, comply with, and promote all regulations and policies regarding resident rights, and encourage peer compliance.
  • Foster positive relationships with residents, families, visitors, and regulatory representatives while maintaining a professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Assist with resident admissions, transfers, and discharges.
  • Fully trained and capable of serving as a Transportation Aide.
  • Participate in training, educational activities, staff meetings, and orientation of new peers.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements
  • Must hold current state certification as a Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) in good standing with the state.
  • Must be able to interact positively with residents, families, and regulatory agencies, and work collaboratively with employees at all levels.
  • Must be able to maintain consistent attendance and be willing to work long or irregular hours, often under pressure.
  • Must comply with all local health regulations and successfully complete a post-offer health assessment.
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Physical and Sensory Requirements (with or without the use of mechanical devices):
  • Ability to read, write, and speak fluent English to communicate effectively with residents, families, staff, and community agencies.
  • Ability to perform physical activities such as walking, reaching, bending, stretching, pulling, and lifting.
  • Adequate fine and gross motor coordination to carry out required tasks.
Work Environment
