Job summary

Iraan General Hospital District in Iraan, TX, is seeking a Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) to provide essential support to nursing staff and assist patients with daily living activities in a hospital setting. Under supervision of RNs/LPNs, you will monitor vital signs, assist with ADLs, ensure patient comfort and safety, maintain clean rooms, and follow HIPAA and infection control guidelines.

This is a PRN- temporary position requiring Texas CNA, BLS within 6 months, and prior hospital

Qualifications

• High school diploma preferred.
• Successful completion of nursing assistant course or the equivalent.
• Current certification as a Nursing Assistant in Texas.
• BLS required or obtained within 6 months of hire date.
• Previous hospital experience with acceptable references preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and feeding.
• Reposition bedridden patients to prevent pressure ulcers and promote comfort.
• Measure and record vital signs such as blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and respiration rate.
• Monitor and document patient intake and output, including food and fluid consumption and urinary and fecal output.
• Assist with mobility and transfers, ensuring patient safety during movement.
• Provide emotional support and companionship to patients, addressing their concerns and needs.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of patient rooms, ensuring a safe and hygienic environment.
• Report any changes in patient condition or behavior to the nursing staff promptly.
• Adhere to infection control protocols and hospital policies and procedures.
• Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
• With specialized training and written approval, may perform additional and specialized tasks pertinent to the assigned area.

POSITION SUMMARY/SCOPE

The Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) provides essential support to nursing staff by assisting patients with daily living activities and ensuring their comfort and safety. Under the supervision of registered nurses (RNs) or licensed practical nurses (LPNs), CNAs play a vital role in delivering compassionate, patient-centered care.

• Knowledgeable in infection control practices and standard precautions (PPE, hand hygiene, etc.)
• Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with patients, families, and healthcare team members
• Compassionate and empathetic with the ability to provide emotional support and comfort to patients
• Attentive to changes in patient condition and capable of promptly reporting concerns to nursing staff
• Familiar with basic medical terminology and electronic health record (EHR) systems
• Well-organized and able to manage time efficiently in a fast-paced hospital environment

Education and Experience

• High school graduate preferred.

Physical Requirements
