Job summary

MetroPlusHealth is looking for a Peer Specialist in New York to provide supportive services to members facing Serious Mental Illness and Substance Abuse Disorders. The Peer Specialist will act as a role model, assist clients in recovery planning, and participate in an interdisciplinary treatment team.

Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma, relevant experience, New York State Peer Specialist Certification, and strong community resource knowledge. Bilingual candidates are preferred.

Qualifications

• 5 years of professional Behavioral Health experience.
• Knowledge of Recovery process and ability to facilitate recovery.
• Ability to teach problem-solving strategies for self-directed recovery.

Responsibilities

• Provide supportive services to members with Serious Mental Illness and Substance Abuse Disorder History.
• Assist clients in articulating personal goals for recovery.
• Develop treatment/recovery plans based on member goals.

Skills

Behavioral Health experience

Knowledge of SMI and SUD

Bilingual (English/Spanish)

Community resource knowledge

Computer literacy

Education

High School diploma or equivalent

New York Certification as a Peer Specialist
