Experience & Requirements
- Income is $20+ per hour with shift differentials
- Hours: 6pm-6:30am (rotating schedules)
- Certified Medication Tech (CMT) certification required
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) required
- 1-2 years of CNA experience preferred
- Current basic life support (BLS) certification required
- Remains knowledgeable about specific state laws and regulations governing practice.
- Certified by professional organization in the state. Subject to initial and ongoing security clearance requirements.
- Requires critical thinking, organizational, decisive judgement, communication, and good customer service skills. Must be able to handle multiple tasks, work in a stressful environment, and take appropriate actions as needed.
- Must always follow YesCare and departmental policies and procedures and complete YesCare internal CMT training.
- Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
- Satisfactory completion of initial and annual clinical competencies to demonstrate aptitude as assigned by role.
A background check, security clearance, and drug screening are required for this role.
Responsibilities
- Administration of medication by the following routes: oral, rectal, vaginal, optic, ophthalmic, nasal, topical, transdermal, buccal, sublingual, aerosol, nebulizer, and oral metered dose inhalers.
- The administration of controlled substances cannot be administered under any circumstance, nor will the Certified Medication Technician (CMT) draw up insulin.
- Prefilled insulin syringes from a pharmacy or an insulin pen prefilled by the manufacturer is permitted.
- Document medication administration, side effects of medication, refusals, and counseling.
- Pre-package medications for administration in areas outside the medical unit as required.
- Issue Keep on Person (KOP) medications, if applicable.
- Count controlled substances with oversight by RN or LPN.
- Communicate with RN/LPN regarding medication concerns such as adverse effects, non-compliance, or potential safety issues.
- Reporting of medication errors or potential medication errors to RN/LPN.
- Performs delegated tasks, activities, and functions that are consistent with prior educational preparation and within scope of practice.
- Provides safe and effective care and assumes responsibility for the care delivered.
- Utilizes a problem-solving approach as the basis for their decision making.
- Takes and documents vital signs, height, and weight.
- Assists with electrocardiograms (ECGs/EKGs).
- Measures and records intake and output.
- Schedules appointments.
- Adheres to safety and security policies and participates in disaster drills.
- Follows security regulations for keys, sharps, and controlled medications.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
