Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required or acceptable combination of education and experience.
• Must hold a current Medication Technician certification as applicable in the state of operation.
• Reading ability to read and interpret written information; written communication should be clear and informative.
• Verbal communication needed to convey information effectively.

Responsibilities

• Administer medications to residents under nurse supervision.
• Monitor resident reactions to medications and report discrepancies.
• Count dosages and document narcotics and other drugs at shift start/end.
• Review MAR for new/changed orders and allergies to ensure accuracy.
• Maintain medication cart, supplies, and confidentiality per HIPAA.
