How you make a difference
The Certified Medication Technician administers medications, monitors vital signs, and assists with activities of daily living under the supervision of a registered nurse. This role ensures compliance with medication protocols, participates in audits, performance‑improvement activities, and documents all care accurately while maintaining HIPAA confidentiality. The technician also trains new staff, attends team meetings, supports overall clinical operations, handles equipment and supplies, and floats to various patient care areas as needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer medications and assist with activities of daily living under RN supervision
- Monitor and document patient vitals, symptoms, and behavior; report abnormalities
- Participate in audits, training sessions, and staff onboarding processes
- Maintain medication supplies, medical equipment, and ensure regulatory compliance
- Float between units, assist team members, and uphold HIPAA confidentiality standards
Qualifications & Requirements
EDUCATION
- High School graduate or equivalent
EXPERIENCE
- 1-year related experience in a medical environment preferred
LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS
- Must be certified as a Medication Technician in the state in which services are provided
- Current CPR certification
- Must maintain SRNA certification
