Responsibilities

The Certified Medication Technician (CMT) is responsible for administering prescribed medications to patients under the supervision of a licensed nurse in accordance with all facility, company, and regulatory standards. The CMT ensures accurate documentation, observes patients for medication effects, and promotes a safe, therapeutic environment.

Performance Expectations:

• Administers medications accurately and safely under the direction of licensed nursing staff in accordance with physician orders, facility protocol, and state regulations.
• Observes patients for medication side effects, adverse reactions, and changes in condition and reports concerns promptly to nursing staff.
• Accurately documents all medication administration and patient responses in the medical record.
• Assists with medication inventory, storage, monitoring of expiration dates, and controlled substance accountability as assigned.
• Maintains a safe and clean medication administration environment.
• Follows CFG Health, facility, custody, and regulatory policies and procedures.
• Maintains patient confidentiality and protects sensitive health information at all times.
• Communicates effectively with nursing staff, custody staff, providers, and patients.
• Participates in shift reports, staff meetings, and required in-service training.
• Responds appropriately to emergencies, including medical or behavioral incidents.
• Supports infection control practices and safety standards.
• Demonstrates professional conduct, reliability, and accountability.
• Performs all other duties as assigned.
