Job summary

Regency Integrated Health Services in Texas seeks a Certified Med Aide to prepare, administer, and document prescribed medications per protocol. The role includes monitoring residents, taking vital signs before meds, and reporting reactions to the charge nurse.

You will follow safety rules, apply ophthalmic/otic/nasal medications, assist with daily activities, and keep the medication room clean. Must complete state-approved training and maintain good standing in the state registry.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Successful completion of State Approved Medication Aide Training and Competency Evaluation Program.
• Good standing in the state registry is required.
• Preferred one (1) year of previous health care experience.
• Must demonstrate working knowledge of Universal Precautions and Blood Borne Pathogen rules.

Responsibilities

• Administers prescribed medications and treatments per policy and state regulations.
• Observes and reports reactions and side-effects to medication to the charge nurse.
• Takes and records vital signs prior to administration of medication.
• Documents administered medication in the resident's medication administration record.
• Administers oxygen in an emergency and notifies the licensed nurse.
• Applies ophthalmic, otic, nasal, and vaginal medications as ordered.
• Assists with daily care tasks and resident mobility.
• Keeps nursing station, medication room, and supply room clean.
