In this role, you will be responsible for the safe administration of all prescribed medications and treatments as listed on the Medication Administration Record (MAR) and Treatment Administration Record (TAR). You will provide personal care and general nursing care to residents as needed or assigned, ensuring the delivery of care and services to all residents, including Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), room cleanliness, scheduled activities, dining services, and individual service plans tailored to each resident.

Job Responsibilities

1. Supervise self-administered medication for the Assisted Living Department, complying with Federal & State regulations and company guidelines, under the supervision of LPN/LVN/RN and/or the Assisted Living Director/Health and Wellness Director.
2. Count and sign all narcotics on approved forms with authorized personnel before accepting medication keys; report discrepancies immediately.
3. Order necessary medications and treatments from pharmacies or notify responsible parties when supplies are below 7 days.
4. Notify supervisor when supplies are less than 2 days and medications have not been received.
5. Receive and verify all medications against pharmacy labels and MAR; report discrepancies to pharmacy and DH&W.
6. Store medications properly, keeping lotions, ointments, and liquids separate from oral medications.
7. Date all vials or bottles upon opening and follow pharmacy protocols on usage duration.
8. Conduct weekly inspections to remove expired medications.
9. Compare current MARs with new MARs at changeover, reporting discrepancies to the supervisor.
10. Remove discontinued medications from the med cart and give them to the supervisor.
11. Provide personal care to residents, including bathing, skin care, oral hygiene, grooming, dressing, incontinence care, and feeding.
12. Administer general nursing care such as vital signs, temperature, blood pressure, and weight measurements.
13. Document relevant information in daily logs and notify supervisors of concerns.
14. Assist residents with calls and needs as assigned.
15. Clean and restock medication carts daily; perform weekly deep cleaning.
16. Participate in staff training and in-service sessions.
17. Maintain accurate medical records, including preparation of charts for new admissions and readmissions, ensuring completeness within 48 hours per policies and regulations.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent; or 1-3 months related experience/training; or equivalent education and experience.
• Minimum 1 month of experience; senior living experience preferred.
• Current Medication Technician certification as per state regulations.
• Proficiency in English for communication and emergency response.
• Basic computer skills, including MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
