Certified Medication Aide - Memory Care (MC) - Full Time - All Shifts

Do you have HEART? We are looking for individuals who can embrace our mission to purposely brighten and enrich the lives of those we serve with HEART; Hospitality, Excellence, Appreciation, Respect & Teamwork. In this role, you will be responsible for the safe administration of all prescribed medications and treatments as listed on the Medication Administration Record (MAR) and Treatment Administration Record (TAR). You will provide personal care and general nursing care to residents as needed or assigned, ensuring the delivery of care and services to all residents in the community, including Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), room cleanliness, scheduled activities, dining services, and individual service plan needs of each assigned resident.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Supervising self-administered medication in compliance with Federal & State regulations and Senior Lifestyle Corporation guidelines, as directed by the LPN/LVN/RN and/or the Director of Health & Wellness.
  2. Counting and signing all narcotics with approved personnel before accepting medication keys, and reporting discrepancies immediately to a supervisor.
  3. Ordering necessary medication and treatments from the pharmacy or notifying responsible parties when supplies are low (less than 7 days).
  4. Notifying supervisors when supplies are less than 2 days and medication has not been received.
  5. Receiving and verifying all medication received against pharmacy labels and MAR, and reporting discrepancies to the pharmacy and DH&W.
  6. Properly storing all medications, ensuring lotions, ointments, and liquids are stored separately from oral medications.
  7. Dating all vials or bottles upon initial opening and following pharmacy protocols on usage duration.
  8. Conducting weekly inspections of all medications to remove expired medications.
  9. Verifying current MARs during changeovers and reporting discrepancies.
  10. Removing discontinued medications from the med cart and reporting to the supervisor.
  11. Providing personal care to residents, including bathing, skin care, oral hygiene, grooming, dressing, incontinence care, and eating.
  12. Providing general nursing care, such as taking vital signs, temperatures, blood pressure, and weights.
  13. Documenting information in the daily log and notifying supervisors of concerns.
  14. Assisting residents with calls and needs as assigned.
  15. Cleaning and restocking medicine carts daily and performing weekly deep cleans.
  16. Participating in staff training and in-services.
  17. Maintaining accurate medical records, including preparing charts for new admissions and readmissions, ensuring completeness within 48 hours as per policies and regulations.

Qualifications include:

  • High School Diploma or GED, or 1-3 months related experience/training, or equivalent.
  • Minimum 1 month of experience; senior living experience preferred.
  • Current Medication Technician certification, depending on state regulations.
  • Proficiency in English for communication and emergency response.
  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook).
