Role and Responsibilities

The CMA assists licensed nurses in providing safe, ethical resident care, administering medications per Ohio regulations, and performing delegated tasks within legal scope.

Essential Functions
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments, observe and report adverse reactions
  • Record vital signs and medication administration accurately
  • Assist with resident care, ensuring residents' rights and confidentiality
  • Maintain medication areas and follow safety regulations
  • Seek guidance from nurses as needed

Qualifications

Active Medication Aide Certification from Ohio Board of Nursing required. Additional facility training may be provided, especially for accu-chek proficiency, under nurse delegation. MA-Cs are not authorized to interpret glucose results.
