Job summary

Cantex is seeking a Certified Medication Aide to administer oral and topical medications to residents under supervision of a licensed nurse.

You will follow physician orders, ensure patient safety, document administrations, and participate in facility education while maintaining quality standards.

Qualifications

• State certification as a Nursing Assistant mandatory.
• State approved medication administration certification (where required).
• Ability to read, write, and speak the English language.

Responsibilities

• Administers medications as ordered by a physician under the supervision of a licensed nurse, in accordance with any state and federal regulations and consistent with facility policy.
• Demonstrates knowledge of "five rights" of medication administration.
• May take and record vital signs of patients/residents as assigned or as may be required by certain medications.
• Records the administration of medications and/or treatments appropriately.
• Observes for and reports any reactions and/or side effects of medications to a licensed nurse or the appropriate shift.
• Administers PRN medications in accordance with state and federal regulations and consistent with facility policy.
• Documents reason for and response to PRN medications in a timely manner.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
