Position Description

The Certified Medication Aide/Behavioral Health Technician serves as a personal guide and liaison for individuals with substance use disorder. The role involves dispensing medications under medical supervision and supporting clients to remain in treatment.

Responsibilities

• Dispense medications per Iowa state regulations under medical supervision.
• Administer Urine Analysis (UA), ensure proper storage, and document accurately.
• Provide orientation to new clients regarding program rules, expectations, and treatment plans within 48 hours of admission.
• Conduct educational groups to help clients regain skills and improve psychoeducation.
• Complete intake procedures and documentation for new clients.
• Create and maintain progress notes.
• Assist clients with activities of daily living (ADLs).
• Oversee recreational activities, transport clients to meetings and appointments.
• Facilitate leisure activities and physical fitness programs.
• Document incidents and complete reports promptly.
• Perform receptionist duties as needed.
• Supervise clients during housekeeping, meals, and daily activities.
• Identify behavioral cues and apply de-escalation techniques.
• Contribute to treatment planning with team input.
• Assist in crisis situations involving social, emotional, or health issues.

Qualifications

• Associate degree required; high school diploma with 1+ years relevant experience may suffice.
• Certified Medication Aide with completed DIAL coursework per Iowa regulations.
• Current First Aid and CPR certification (or obtain within 30 days).
• Valid driver’s license required.
