Company Description

In this role, you will be responsible for the safe administration of all prescribed medications and treatments as listed on the Medication Administration Record (MAR) and Treatment Administration Record (TAR). You will provide personal care and general nursing care to residents as needed or assigned, ensuring the delivery of care and services to all residents in the community, including Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), room cleanliness, scheduled activities, dining services, and individual service plan needs of each assigned resident.

Job Responsibilities
  • Supervise self-administered medication for the Assisted Living Department in compliance with Federal & State regulations and company guidelines, under the supervision of LPN/LVN/RN and/or the Assisted Living Director/Health and Wellness Director.
  • Count and sign all narcotics on an approved form with authorized personnel before accepting medication keys. Report discrepancies immediately to a supervisor.
  • Order necessary medications and treatments from the pharmacy or notify responsible parties when supplies are below 7 days.
  • Notify supervisor when supplies are less than 2 days and medication has not been received.
  • Receive and verify all medications against pharmacy labels and MARs; report discrepancies to pharmacy and DH&W.
  • Ensure proper storage of medications, keeping lotions, ointments, and liquids separate from oral medications.
  • Date all vials or bottles upon initial opening, following pharmacy protocols for usage duration.
  • Conduct weekly inspections to remove expired medications.
  • Compare current MARs with new MARs at changeover and report discrepancies.
  • Remove discontinued medications from the med cart and hand them to a supervisor.
  • Provide personal care to residents, including bathing, skin care, oral hygiene, grooming, dressing, incontinence care, and eating.
  • Administer general nursing care, such as vital signs, temperatures, blood pressure, and weights.
  • Document relevant information in daily logs and notify supervisors of concerns.
  • Assist residents with their needs and answer calls as assigned.
  • Clean and restock medicine carts daily and perform weekly deep cleaning.
  • Participate in staff training and in-service sessions.
  • Maintain accurate medical records, including preparing charts for new admissions and ensuring completeness within 48 hours, following policies and regulations.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent; or 1-3 months related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 1 month of experience; senior living experience preferred.
  • Current Medication Technician certification, as per state regulations.
  • Proficiency in English for communication and emergency response.
  • Basic computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
