Job summary

Senior Lifestyle Corporation is seeking a Certified Medication Aide for an Assisted Living community in Georgia. The role involves safe administration of prescribed medications per MAR/TAR, providing personal and nursing care, and supporting residents with daily activities, meals and coordination of care.

Responsibilities include medication management, documentation, stock control, and adherence to state regulations.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED; or 1–3 months related experience or equivalent
  • 1+ months of experience in a Senior Living setting
  • Current Medication Technician certification depending on state regulations
  • English proficiency to perform duties and communicate with staff and residents
  • Basic computer proficiency for documentation and record-keeping (Word/Excel)

Responsibilities

  • Supervise self-administered medications in compliance with regulations and guidance
  • Count and sign narcotics with approved personnel; report discrepancies
  • Order medications and treatments to maintain supply as needed
  • Notify supervisor when supply is low and arrange replenishment
  • Verify medicines against MAR; report discrepancies to pharmacy/DH&W
  • Store medications and related products separately from oral meds
  • Date and label vials on opening; follow pharmacy time limits
  • Conduct weekly medication inspections and remove expired meds
  • Compare current MARs with new MARs during changeovers and report discrepancies
  • Remove discontinued meds from med cart and hand to supervisor
  • Provide personal care (bathing, grooming, feeding) and general nursing care (vital signs etc.)
  • Document information in daily log and inform supervisor of concerns
  • Answer calls and assist residents with needs
  • Clean and restock medicine carts daily; conduct weekly deep cleaning
  • Attend staff trainings and in-services
  • Maintain complete medical charts for admissions/readmissions within 48 hours

Certified Medication Aide - Assisted Living (AL)

Do you have HEART? We are looking for individuals who can embrace our mission to purposely brighten and enrich the lives of those we serve with HEART—Hospitality, Excellence, Appreciation, Respect & Teamwork. In this role you will be responsible for the safe administration of all prescribed medications and treatments as listed on the Medication Administration Record (MAR) and Treatment Administration Record (TAR), provide personal care and general nursing care to residents as needed or assigned, and ensure delivery of care and services to all residents in the community, including Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), room cleanliness, scheduled activities and dining services, and individual service plan needs of each assigned resident.

Responsibilities
  • Supervision of self-administered medication for the Assisted Living Department in compliance with federal & state regulations and Senior Lifestyle Corporation guidelines as directed by the LPN/LVN/RN and/or the Assisted Living Director/Health and Wellness Director.
  • Count and sign on approved form, all narcotics with approved personnel before accepting medication keys. Contact a supervisor immediately with discrepancies.
  • Order all necessary medication and treatments from appropriate pharmacy or notify responsible party when supply is no less than 7 days.
  • Notify supervisor when supply is less than 2 days and medicine hasn’t been received.
  • Receive and verify all medicine received is accurate according to pharmacy label and MAR, and notify pharmacy and DH&W of any discrepancies.
  • Properly store all medications and ensuring all lotions, ointments and liquids stored separately from oral medications.
  • Date all appropriate vials or bottles at time of initial opening and follow pharmacy protocol on length of time they can be used.
  • Conduct weekly inspections of all medications to ensure all expired medications are removed.
  • Verify all current MARs are compared to new MARs at change over time and notify the supervisor of any discrepancies.
  • Remove all discontinued medication from med cart and give it to the supervisor.
  • Provide personal care to residents (bathing, skin care, oral hygiene, grooming, dressing, incontinence care, eating, etc.).
  • Provide general nursing care (vital signs, temperatures, blood pressure, weights).
  • Document appropriate information in the daily log as required and notify the supervisor of all concerns.
  • Answer calls and assist residents with needs as assigned.
  • Clean all medicine carts daily at end of shift and restock as needed.
  • Conduct weekly deep cleaning of all med carts.
  • Attend and participate in staff training and in‑services.
  • Maintain accurate records, including preparation of all medical charts for new admissions and readmissions, and ensure medical record is complete within 48 hours as per Policy and Procedure (P&P) and regulatory guidelines.
Qualifications

Level of Formal Education: A high school diploma or general education degree; or one to three months related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Years of Experience: 1+ months of experience.

Type of Experience: Senior Living preferred.

Special Certifications: Current Medication Technician certification depending on state regulations.

Language Skills: Acceptable proficiency in English to perform job duties, communicate with supervisors and other employees, and respond and communicate in emergency situations.

Technical Competencies: Basic computer proficiency including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
