Job summary

Birmingham Green, a long-standing nursing home and assisted living community in Manassas, Virginia, is seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant/Medication Aide (CNA/Med Aide) for a full-time role with a new weekend shift differential.

The ideal candidate will hold active CNA and Medication Aide licenses, have a GED or high school diploma, and at least six months in a skilled or long-term care setting; CPR and First Aid certifications are preferred.

Qualifications

• Candidate must hold a valid CNA license and a Medication Aide license.
• High school diploma or GED required; minimum six months in a skilled or long-term care setting.
• Must be able to work weekends; CPR and First Aid certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide prescribed personal care for residents under the Nurse Manager.
• Assist with self-administration of medicines; monitor supplies and document.
• Prepare and administer medications when needed.
• Follow procedures to ensure a safe, comfortable environment for residents.
• Document activities using POC, ADL Flow sheets and related forms.
• Lift without restrictions and perform other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities/Accountabilities

• Provide prescribed personal care services for the residents, under the direction of the Nurse Manager.
• Assists with self-administration of medicines, including monitoring of medication supplies and documentation.
• Prepares and administers medication when necessary.
• Follow the established procedures and standards, to enable the residents to enjoy emotional and physical comfort in a safe and caring environment.
• Perform any other duties required to help patient care and maintenance of a smoothly operating department.
• Document activities through Point of Care (POC), ADL Flow sheet, Restorative Sheets, various treatment sheets, charge sheets, etc. as established by the facility.
• Must be able to lift without restrictions.
• Complete other duties as assigned.

Experience/Skills/Education

Required:

• Current Certified Nursing Assistant license
• Current Medication Aide license
• High school diploma or general education diploma (GED)
• Minimum six months of hands-on experience in a skilled or long term care facility
• Able to work weekends
• CPR certification
• First Aid certification

Preferred:

• Exposure to the senior population
• Familiarity with Point of Care (POC)
• Desire to serve and care for the senior population
