Job Description:

As a front-line staff member, the Medical Office Assistant will perform a variety of clerical, registration, scheduling, and reception tasks while promoting a pleasant environment for patients by facilitating flow and assisting patients wherever possible. Carry out direct patient care and non-direct services that support the department. Duties include performing EKGs, urine pregnancy testing, blood pressures, temperature taking, etc.

Responsibilities:

  • Take and record patient vitals
  • Patient registration, information updates, and financial screenings
  • Payment collections, including service charge explanations and answering related questions
  • Patient scheduling and appointment verification
  • Verify insurance coverage and obtain insurance utilization authorizations
  • Coordination of patient discharge process and follow through with referrals
  • Perform record-keeping and documentation-related responsibilities

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years experience as Medical Assistant in health related field
  • Medical Office Assistant certification required
  • High School diploma or Equivalency required
  • Working knowledge of MediSoft and PowerMed computer applications
