Position Summary

This fully remote, full-time position is based in Massachusetts (surrounding states considered). The role involves assigning diagnosis and procedure codes to ensure compliant billing and coding of facility and select office-based services. Candidates must be certified by AAPC and/or AHIMA and reside in Massachusetts or neighboring states. Atrius Health offers flexible schedules, benefits, and support for professional development.

Responsibilities
  • Assign diagnosis and procedure codes for billing compliance.
  • Review medical records to ensure coding accuracy, including operative and pathology reports.
  • Ensure proper documentation and physician signatures.
  • Maintain knowledge of CMS/Medicare regulations, ICD-10, CPT-4 coding systems.
  • Provide accurate coded encounters to the billing department and follow up on missing information.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent required; 2-4 year healthcare-related degree preferred.
  • Certification in medical coding (CCS, CCS-P, CPC, or equivalent) required.
Experience
  • At least 3 years of surgical facility coding experience required.
  • Thorough knowledge of medical terminology, ICD-10, and CPT-4 coding required.
Skills
  • Understanding of healthcare operations.
