• Minimum six years of hospital/facility-based coding experience.
• Current coding certification required (CPC, COC, CIC, CCS, CCS-P).
• Strong understanding of Microsoft Office products.

What To Expect (Job Responsibilities)

• Utilize encoder and grouper software to assign accurate ICD-10 diagnoses and procedure codes from hospital medical records
• Maintain coding productivity and quality benchmarks as prescribed by the coding policy and procedure
• Demonstrate proficiency in coding various case types, including Maternity, Pediatrics, Behavioral Health, and Surgical cases
• Interpret data and apply knowledge of anatomy, medical terminology, and patient care documentation for inpatient coding
• Communicate effectively with team members and demonstrate excellent customer service skills
  
  

What Is Required (Qualifications)

• Associate degree in health information technology or a related field, or equivalent training and experience
• Minimum of six (6) years of hospital/facility-based coding experience
• Current coding certification (CPC, COC, CIC, CCS, or CCS-P) required
• Ability to pass a coding exam with at least 85% accuracy prior to hire
• Strong understanding of Microsoft Office products and electronic health records
  
  

How To Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications)

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
• Level I Trauma coding experience
• Prior coding experience in a teaching hospital
• Experience with Burn and Mental/Behavioral Health coding
• Training in 3M encoder and EPIC Electronic Health Record
