Job summary

Cookeville Regional Medical Center is seeking a skilled medical coder to perform coding and abstracting for Professional Services, ensuring accurate CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10 coding in line with guidelines.

You will work with Providers to clarify documentation, improve coding accuracy, and may take on special projects related to coding, documentation, and chart audits. Requires 2+ years of coding experience and CPC/CCS-P certification.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Coding Specialist-Physician Based (CCS-P), other acceptable coding certification. Strong knowledge base of CPT, HCPCS, ICD-10, and coding guidelines.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical billing/coding with experience in appropriate coding and billing practices for Professional Services. Previous coding for multiple specialties preferred.

Responsibilities

• Code and abstract medical records for Professional Services.
• Collaborate with Providers to clarify or improve areas affecting coding.
• May complete special projects related to coding, documentation, and chart auditing.
