Medicus Spine & Joint in Jacksonville, FL is seeking an experienced Certified Medical Coder / Billing Specialist to ensure accurate ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding, clean claims, and timely reimbursement. The role requires attention to detail, ownership of the revenue cycle, and collaboration with providers and staff.

The ideal candidate will have 2+ years of hands-on coding and billing experience, strong knowledge of coding modifiers, and proficiency with EHRs and practice management software.

Qualifications

• Active medical coding certification through AAPC or AHIMA, such as CPC, CCS, CCA, or equivalent.
• Minimum 2 years of handson medical coding and billing experience.
• Strong working knowledge of ICD10CM, CPT, HCPCS, and coding modifiers.
• Experience with electronic claims submission, denial resolution, and insurance followup.
• Understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and clinical documentation.
• Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR) and practice management software.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problemsolving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple accounts, meet deadlines, and work independently.

Responsibilities

• Medical Coding: Review clinical documentation and assign accurate ICD10CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes for medical services and procedures.
• Charge Review: Audit charges for coding accuracy, appropriate modifiers, medical necessity, and documentation completeness.
• Claims Management: Prepare, review, and submit clean claims while identifying and correcting billing errors.
• Denial Management: Investigate rejected, denied, and underpaid claims, make corrections, and submit timely appeals.
• Accounts Receivable: Monitor aging reports, prioritize outstanding balances, and follow up to secure reimbursement.
• Payment Reconciliation: Review payment postings, adjustments, and remittance information to identify discrepancies.
• Compliance: Maintain compliance with HIPAA, payer guidelines, coding standards, and applicable billing regulations.
• Revenue Cycle Improvement: Identify recurring coding errors, reimbursement trends, and opportunities to improve collections.
• Team Collaboration: Work with providers, clinical staff, and billing team members to resolve documentation and reimbursement issues.
