Job summary

University of Mississippi Medical Center is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant (UA) to perform routine administrative and clinical duties in the Internal Medicine – GF 1 – Clinical setting at Main Campus Jackson.

The role requires CMA/CCMA/RMA credentials from AAMA, NHA, NCCT, AMT or related bodies, plus knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pharmacology and medical terminology. Responsibilities include patient check-in, vital signs, data entry, venipuncture, phlebotomy and clerical tasks.

Qualifications

Responsibilities Assists with direct patient care procedures and related tasks; checks in patients, obtains medical histories, takes vital signs, prepares charts, and assists with medical examinations. Performs routine specialized procedures such as venipuncture, catheterization, and sterile dressing changes in accordance with established protocols; collects and prepares laboratory specimens for analysis. Arranges examination room for instruments and equipment; sterilizes medical instruments; dispose of contaminated supplies; and maintains stocks of medications and medical supplies. Educates and advises patients on specified medical issues within established guidelines. Performs administrative duties such as answering telephones, greeting patients, updating and filing medical records, verifying demographic and insurance information, scheduling appointments, and performing billing and bookkeeping tasks. Practices safety, environmental, and infection control methods.
