Job summary

Phaxis is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant to join an outpatient practice in Uptown Charlotte, NC. The role involves rooming patients, taking histories and vitals, and coordinating with providers for exams and procedures.

Responsibilities include EKGs, venipuncture, injections, and CLIA-waived testing, with patient communication and chart documentation. Typical hours are 8:00 AM–5:00 PM, Monday–Friday, with a pay rate up to $25 per hour.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Graduate of a CAAHEP- or ABHES-accredited Medical Assisting program.
• Medical Assistant certification preferred.
• Current BLS certification.
• At least 1 year of recent Medical Assistant experience or externship.
• Hands-on experience with EKGs, vital signs, venipuncture, capillary sticks, injections, and EHR documentation.
• Ability to lift or support up to 35 pounds.
• TB screening and required vaccination documentation or applicable declination forms.

• Administer injections and approved non-IV medications.
• Perform EKGs, venipuncture, capillary sticks, specimen collection, and CLIA-waived testing.
• Respond to patient messages, pharmacy requests, and medication refills.
• Complete prior authorizations and follow up on labs, referrals, and provider orders.
• Maintain accurate patient records and obtain outside reports as needed.
• Prepare exam rooms, sterilize instruments, restock supplies, and maintain efficient patient flow.
• Provide occasional coverage at nearby offices as needed.
