Position Schedule: This position requires three 12-hour shifts (7:45am-8pm) with rotating/alternating weekends (8:45am-2pm). AllCare provides weekend differential pay and overtime opportunities!

General Position Summary: Medical Assistants are responsible for conducting routine medical and testing procedures under the direct supervision of a treating clinician. The role of a Medical Assistant is pivotal in the seamless operation of AllCare Primary and Immediate Care facilities. Their responsibilities are multifaceted, demanding a blend of technical skills, administrative acumen, and interpersonal abilities.

Working effectively with physicians, advance practice clinicians, and other healthcare staff requires excellent teamwork and communication skills. Medical Assistants must be able to collaborate seamlessly to ensure cohesive accurate and quality patient care.

As healthcare continues to evolve, Medical Assistants must remain adaptable, committed to continuous learning, and dedicated to upholding the highest standards of professionalism and ethical conduct. Through their invaluable contributions, Medical Assistants help shape a positive healthcare experience for all patients.

Core Responsibilities:

Clinical Duties:

  1. Assist healthcare providers with patient examinations and procedures.
  2. Prepare and administer medications as directed by a physician.
  3. Conduct clinical procedures such as administering injections and preparing specimens for laboratory testing.
  4. Collect and process laboratory specimens.
  5. Perform basic laboratory tests and record results.
  6. Maintain accurate patient records and ensure confidentiality.
  7. Educate patients on treatment plans and follow-up care.

Administrative Duties:

  1. Clear and compassionate communication with patients.
  2. Managing patient appointments and ensuring a smooth flow of patients.
  3. Handle patient check-ins and check-outs.
  4. Maintain and update patient medical records in the electronic health record (EHR) system.
  5. Coordinate referrals to specialists and follow up on patient appointments.
  6. Manage inventory of medical supplies and equipment.
  7. Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and standards.

Technical Expertise:

  1. Proficient in using medical software and electronic health records (EHR) systems.
  2. Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to medical equipment.
  3. Stay updated with the latest medical technologies and procedures.
  4. Provide technical support and training to staff in medical equipment and software.

Administrative Skills:

  1. Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  2. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  3. Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks.
  4. Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and efficiency.
  5. Experience in healthcare administration or a related field is preferred.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

  1. Assist in opening and closing the clinic.
  2. Welcome patients by greeting them and answering inquiries.
  3. Answer multi-phone lines and complete daily patient callbacks.
  4. Collect and verify patient insurance information.
  5. Schedule/reschedule clinic appointments.
  6. Assist the provider with examinations and procedures.
  7. Complete clinical intake and update medical records.
  8. Perform venipuncture and lab specimen collections.
  9. Perform patient point of care (POC) testing and ensure accurate documentation.
  10. Maintain supplies and ensure clean exam rooms.
  11. Assist provider with patient discharge process.
  12. Complete provider orders per state and AllCare policies.
  13. Ensure clinic readiness and maintenance to remain compliant with corporate policies.
  14. Complete all assigned compliance and annual trainings timely.
  15. Assist with the training of newly hired team members.

Required Qualifications:

  1. High School Diploma or GED.
  2. Completion of medical assistant training program with current CCMA, CMA, or RMA certification.
  3. 2+ years of medical assistant experience.
  4. Knowledge of computerized information systems (EMR).

Ethical Standards and Professionalism

Upholding ethical standards and demonstrating professionalism are paramount responsibilities for Medical Assistants. This includes maintaining patient confidentiality, exhibiting professional behavior, and a dedication to providing high-quality care.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. 2+ years of customer service experience.
  2. 2+ years of direct patient care experience.
  3. Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws and regulations including OSHA and HIPAA requirements.

Working Conditions:

  1. This role is patient-facing and requires working in a clinical setting.
  2. Requires the ability to stand and sit for hours at a time.
  3. Hours may vary based on location, patient volume, and business needs.
