Highpoint Health Winchester with Ascension Saint Thomas is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to join an outpatient clinic team. In this role you will provide direct clinical and administrative support, room patients, document vital signs and histories, and assist with procedures under physician supervision.

You will administer medications and injections as directed, perform point-of-care testing, maintain EMR records, and educate patients on treatments and follow-up care.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; CMA program preferred.
• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or RMA, or equivalent; certification timely.
• AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) required.

How You'll Contribute

• Provides direct clinical and administrative support to physicians and advanced practice providers in an outpatient clinic setting.
• Rooms patients, obtains and documents vital signs, medical histories, and chief complaints.
• Prepares patients for examinations, procedures, and treatments.
• Assists providers with minor procedures, treatments, and patient care activities.
• Administers medications, injections, immunizations, and performs delegated clinical tasks in accordance with scope of practice.
• Performs point-of-care testing, specimen collection, and prepares laboratory samples as directed.
• Schedules appointments, manages patient flow, and assists with referral coordination.
• Maintains accurate electronic medical records and ensures timely documentation.
• Provides patient education and instructions regarding medications, treatments, and follow-up care.
• Ensures exam rooms are stocked, clean, organized, and compliant with infection prevention standards.
• Participates in required education, competency validation, and performance improvement activities.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

What We're Looking For

Education

High school diploma or equivalent required. Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred.

Certifications

• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Registered Medical Assistant (RMA), or equivalent certification required or obtained within designated timeframe.
• AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) required.

Highpoint Health - Winchester with Ascension Saint Thomas is a 157-bed facility that includes 131 licensed acute care beds and 26 skilled nursing home beds. Fully accredited by The Joint Commission, the hospital offers a wide range of inpatient and outpatient services supported by a qualified and diverse medical staff. Key services include a 10-bed Intensive Care Unit (ICU), a 12-bed Geriatric Psychiatry Unit, and a 12-bed Acute Inpatient Physical Rehabilitation Unit.
