Job Description

• Supervises department medical assistants including hiring, training, and performance evaluation.
• Establishes schedule for medical assistants in clinic.
• Escorts patients to exam rooms and ensures proper identification by confirming name and date of birth.
• Performs and documents vital signs, clinical care quality measures, and medical history information.
• Directly assists physicians in medical/surgical procedures as directed.
• Remains proficient with information technology systems within scope of practice.
• Adheres to HIPAA privacy and security requirements.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Familiarity with medical office procedures.

Education & Experience

• HS Diploma or equivalent required.
• Medical Assistant Certification must be obtained within 6 months of hire.
• BLS certification through the American Heart Association must be obtained within 90 days of hire.
• BLS through the American Red Cross may be acceptable at some locations.
• Experience in healthcare settings preferred.
• For NJ only: Graduate of an accredited post-secondary medical assisting program with minimum 330 hours of instruction, including training in injections.
• For internal Einstein applicants: Medical Assistant certification not required if transferring within Einstein with a hire date prior to 7/1/2024.
