Overview

Texas Oncology is looking for a Certified Medical Assistant to join our team! This position is a Float position for our Plano East market locations. Texas Oncology operates over 175 sites across Texas and southeastern Oklahoma. What does the Medical Assistant do?

Under supervision, the Medical Assistant assists physicians and clinicians with patient care duties, promotes efficient patient flow, and performs clerical tasks such as answering phones and maintaining schedules. Supports adherence to the US Oncology Compliance Program, including the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.

Responsibilities
  • Escort patients to and from exam rooms, physician offices, and treatment areas.
  • Record patient data prior to visits, including vital signs, allergies, and medication changes.
  • Answer patient calls and refer to physicians or nurses as needed.
  • Perform administrative duties such as typing, filing, faxing, chart preparation, and reception tasks.
Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program.
  • 1-3 years of experience as a Medical Assistant or Nursing Assistant.
  • Current BCLS certification.
  • Certified Medical Assistant credential.

Some state regulations may require additional certifications.

Physical Demands

This role requires full body motion, handling and lifting patients, manual dexterity, and standing/walking for extended periods. Occasionally, lifting up to 40 lbs is necessary. Corrected vision and hearing are required.

Work Environment

Work involves exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, radiation, and medical preparations typical of an oncology/hematology clinic environment. Accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.
