We are hiring a Certified Medical Assistant at Southend Medical Center, UofL Health, for the First Shift at KMG PCA Dixie Hwy.

Location: 5129 Dixie Highway Suite 100 Louisville, KY 40216

Shift: First Shift (United States of America)

Job Description Summary

The Medical Assistant, Certified (clinic-based), assists the medical team in providing quality care to patients. Responsibilities include patient triage, vital signs, patient history, EKG, injections, and electronic health record management.

Essential Functions
  • Obtain medical history, triage patients, record vitals
  • Reconcile medication list in EHR
  • Respond timely to tasks
  • Report abnormal results to physicians immediately
  • Ensure patient information is scanned into EHR
  • Assist physicians in exam rooms (e.g., suture removal, dressing changes)
  • Schedule surgeries/tests or hospital admissions
  • Code diagnoses and procedures for insurance purposes
  • Explain procedures to patients and families
  • Maintain physician’s surgery schedules
  • Answer phone calls, triage, and direct messages
  • Schedule and register patients, collect paperwork and copayments
Other Functions
  • Maintain clean exam rooms
  • Complete KASPER queries and patient forms
  • Check out patients and schedule follow-ups
  • Order supplies and maintain waiting area
  • Perform office maintenance and reporting
  • Ensure compliance with policies and HIPAA
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Obtain a medical assisting certification (CMA, CCMA, or RMA) within 90 days if not certified at hire; ongoing certification maintenance required.
