Job summary

VCU Health's Tappahannock General Surgery Clinic seeks a Certified Medical Assistant to provide direct, age-specific patient care under the physician’s plan of care. The clinic operates Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.

The CMA will support clinical workflows, handle basic computer tasks, and assist with patient flow and documentation. Requirements include current CMA certification from a recognized national association and at least one year of MA experience if not a graduate of an MA

Qualifications

• Current Medical Assistant Certification through a recognized national professional association.
• One year of medical assistant experience within the last three years if not a graduate of a medical assistant program.
• Graduation from a Medical Assisting training program is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct, age-specific care to patients under physician direction.
• Performs routine medical assistant duties and uses basic computer software.
• Responds to patient needs with strong organizational and communication skills.
