Job Description

The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) has duties and responsibilities related to patient care in the ambulatory clinic environment. The individual displays responsible behaviors, communicates effectively with others, and functions as a member of the healthcare team. The CMA works under the direct supervision of the physician during clinical tasks and reports to the clinic manager for administrative supervision, staff development, and policy orientation. The CMA must demonstrate competency in patient care skills, maintain an inventory of supplies, assist in organizing patient flow, and ensure a safe clinic environment. They should also demonstrate problem-solving skills related to patient care and serve as a role model for other CMAs.

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant training program
  • Current CPR certification
  • Certification as a Medical Assistant by an approved National Examination Agency
  • Interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact with patients, families, physicians, and healthcare team members
