RESPONSIBLE FOR:
Providing a variety of patient care activities under the supervision of a physician, physician extender, or registered nurse, in accordance with established guidelines and standards.
MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED:
High School diploma or GED required. Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program accredited through the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP), the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES), or similarly recognized organization, or completion of a Nursing Assistant program is required. Alternatively, one (1) year of medical assistant or related clinical experience is acceptable in lieu of formal education.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
No experience required if completing a Medical Assistant or Nursing Assistant program. Alternatively, one (1) year of medical assistant or related clinical experience is required in lieu of formal education.
MINIMUM LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BY LAW:
None
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
BLS certification required. Certification from the American Association (note: specify which American Association if possible).
