Job summary

South Central Primary Care Center Inc is seeking a Medical Assistant to perform administrative and clinical duties in an ambulatory primary care setting under physician direction.

You will interview patients, record histories, collect samples, perform CLIA-waived tests, assist providers, administer meds, and help maintain EMR documentation, while ensuring HIPAA compliance and high-quality patient care.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Graduate of an accredited medical assistant program.
• Must hold current medical assistant certification.
• At least 2 years of clinical experience in an outpatient/ambulatory setting.
• BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Accurately interviews patients and records patient history, and measures and records vital signs such as height, weight, BMI, current medications, pulse oximetry level, and patient comfort level.
• Collects, performs, documents, and reports results of CLIA waived lab tests including, but not limited to: urine dip, pregnancy tests, finger stick blood glucose levels, fecal occult blood tests, rapid influenza tests, and rapid strep tests.
• Collects, prepares, and documents specimen collection including, but not limited to: blood, urine, stool, and sputum.
• Performs clinical duties as assigned including, but not limited to: preparing patients for examinations and /or treatments, assisting provider with exams or procedures, setting up exam or procedure rooms, and preparing instruments for sterilization.
• Prepares charts per the provider’s schedule.
• Administers medications and injections as ordered.
• Dismisses patient at end of clinic visit.
• Participates in orientation of new employees and attends mandatory meetings.
