This is a part-time position at 20 hours per week for Primary Care at the Huntley clinic, primarily in Internal Medicine with some cross coverage in Pediatrics. Candidates should have flexibility Monday through Friday, between 7 am-5 pm, with occasional Saturdays.

The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) supports the mission, vision, and values of NM, adhering to the organization’s Code of Ethics, Corporate Compliance Program, and all relevant policies and standards.

  • The CMA performs clinical and administrative roles, providing direct and indirect patient care under supervision, assisting with laboratory testing, and supporting clerical functions. The CMA is a key team member in the ambulatory care setting, interacting with patients and staff.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a friendly, professional demeanor and appearance.
  • Provide accurate information and timely updates to patients and staff, addressing questions and concerns promptly.
  • Utilize effective service recovery skills to resolve issues.
  • Demonstrate teamwork, communicate effectively, and respect diverse opinions.
  • Use resources efficiently and manage work schedules effectively.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and cost reduction efforts.
  • Assist with patient rooms, record histories, prepare patients for procedures, and support medical staff with examinations and treatments.
  • Explain treatment procedures and reinforce patient education.
  • Administer injections and medications as directed.
  • Perform point-of-care testing and other office procedures independently.
  • Relate test results to patients and consult with staff for questions.
  • Follow infection control standards and maintain sterilization protocols.
  • Engage in shared governance, committees, and practice projects.
  • Report medical errors properly and support co-workers.
  • Communicate professionally and maintain positive relationships.
  • Prioritize tasks and keep an organized workspace.
  • Document accurately and timely, and charge for services performed.
  • Participate in ongoing education and share knowledge gained.
  • Utilize electronic health record and practice management systems effectively.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Two or more years of recent Medical Assistant experience or completion of an accredited Medical Assisting Program.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent with relevant experience.
  • CPR/BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
  • Completion of a phlebotomy class or equivalent experience, basic computer skills, and effective communication skills in English.
  • New graduates must obtain certification within 6 months of hire; acceptable certifications include CMA (AAMA), RMA (AMT), NCMA (NCCT), CCMA (NHA), or NRCMA (NAHP).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree in Medical Assisting.
  • Second language proficiency is a plus.
