Job summary

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Successful completion of Medical Assistant training from an approved technical school (or at least one year of verifiable work experience as a Medical Assistant in a patient care setting).
• Maintains current BLS Healthcare Provider Certification.
• Maintains current certification or registration by one of the listed national bodies for Medical Assistants.

Responsibilities

• Accountable to the Assistant Nurse Manager, Nursing Operations Manager, or Practice Manager for operational issues.
• Supports and participates in quality initiatives and clinical outcome improvement activities.
• Gathers patient data through interview and observation and assists with examination preparation.
• Assists the physician or APP during examination and procedures.
• Documents patient data, treatments, and education according to policies.
• Assists scheduling for specialty testing and physician consultation.
• Enters orders into the EMR under provider direction.
• Maintains compliance with Orlando Health policies and infection control standards.
