The CMA performs venipunctures, urinalysis, basic lab duties, vital signs, and medication administration under MD orders, while handling prior authorizations, referrals, and medical records with clear communication to patients and the care team.

Qualifications

• High School Graduate.
• Graduate of state approved Medical Assistant school.
• Current license as a Medical Assistant in the State of Louisiana.
• Six months previous medical office experience required.

Responsibilities

• Under the supervision of the Nursing Supervisor and Medical Director, render safe nursing care to patients including venipunctures, urinalysis, CBGs and lab assistance as needed; vital signs and medication administration per MD orders; assist with referrals and call-backs as appropriate.
• Respond to requests for copies of medical records and handle Community Care referrals, ER and physician requests; ensure timely and accurate assembly and analysis of medical records.
