Job summary

AdventHealth in Tampa, FL is seeking a skilled Medical Assistant. You will support clinicians by preparing patients and equipment, conducting intake and basic procedures, and documenting results in the EMR.

This role requires strong communication, attention to safety, and teamwork. Responsibilities include patient education, medication reconciliation, inventory management, and ensuring compliance with policies.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of health care field and medical terminology.
• Knowledge of chronic disease management.
• Knowledge of and ability to utilize internal and external resources.
• Expertise in patient advocacy and navigating complex systems.
• Ability to function in stressful, fast-paced environments.
• Ability to resolve issues and work independently within scope of certification.
• Ability to exercise sound judgement and professional demeanor.
• Clear reading, writing, and speaking in English to carry out job requirements.
• Experience with computers required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients and equipment for treatment and document results in the practice’s system.
• Maintain OSHA regulatory compliance and office safety processes.
• Provide comprehensive patient care during visits, including intake, test results, screenings, labs, medications, and closing gaps in care.
• Support staff by assisting patients, visitors, and co-workers.
• Perform clinical intake including screenings, history, vital signs, and medication reconciliation.
• Assist with minor procedures and document at time of service.
• Educate patients about tests, medications, and diet with clear instructions.
• Monitor and manage inventory and ensure equipment functioning.
