Job summary

Geisinger is seeking a skilled Medical Assistant to provide direct patient care and clinical support in an outpatient setting. Under provider guidance, you will prepare patients, document in the EMR, and support a safe environment while handling administrative tasks like scheduling and billing follow-up.

Qualified candidates are CMA or RMA certified, with BLS and a combination of clinical and clerical abilities.

Qualifications

• Graduate CMA or RMA preferred; CMA certification required.
• BLS certification within 6 months after hire.
• Experience in outpatient clinic settings is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Obtains and documents patient information, vital signs, and visit reason using the EMR.
• Sets up examination and treatment rooms between cases.
• Assists patients to prepare for visits and ensures safety and privacy.
• Provides direct patient care per provider needs, including EKGs and wound care.
• Prepares and administers medications per policy after competency validation.
• Completes tests and treatments per order and manages specimens for labs.
• Performs phlebotomy and supports related lab functions as directed.
• Performs receptionist and clerical duties, schedules referrals and pre-authorizations.
• Documents in EMR and communications to ensure timely care and patient education.
• Supports inventory, sterilization, infection control, and safety initiatives.
