Job summary

CHRISTUS Health seeks a Certified Medical Assistant to support patient care with accurate data entry for registration and insurance verification. The role requires effective communication with patients and staff, and a professional, caring demeanor.

The CMA will assist physicians and other clinicians, handle data entry for charges, verify insurance, and help schedule appointments. A one-year medical office background is preferred, with CMA and BLS certifications required.

Qualifications

• CMA certification is required by the employer.
• BLS certification is required.
• 1 year of medical office experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Meets expectations of the applicable OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
• Assisting the physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants in giving superior medical care.
• Accurate Data Entry of charges on patient accounts, registering patients, and updating patient accounts.
• Insurance Verification and recording of Statistics.
• Assist with scheduling patient appointments, answering phones, keeping providers informed of changes, and informing patients of their benefits.
• Other duties as assigned.
