Role Overview

The Medical Assistant assists in examination and treatment of patients under the supervision of an urgent care provider. Responsibilities include managing check-in and registration, interviewing patients, measuring vital signs, recording information, and possibly drawing blood samples and preparing specimens for lab analysis. They also prepare treatment rooms for examinations.

Hourly Rate & Bonus

Hourly rate: $17.50 - $26.00

Bonus eligible up to $600/month

Minimum Requirements

• High School Diploma required
• Graduate of a Medical Assisting Program preferred
• Medical Assistant experience preferred
• Front Desk experience preferred
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required at hire (through ARC or AHA)
• One of the following certifications required at hire: CCMA, CMA, RMA, NCMA, or NRCMA
• Alternatively, a graduate of an accredited Nursing, LPN, RN program, or EMT/CNA certification is acceptable

Essential Functions

• Conduct patient registration and verify insurance and eligibility.
• Process co-pays and schedule appointments.
• Coordinate provider referrals.
• Answer patient questions and keep them informed.
• Prepare patients for examinations, take vital signs, and conduct point-of-care testing.
• Stock supplies, maintain medical records, and perform administrative duties.
• Assist with opening and closing procedures and ensure equipment calibration.

• Proficiency in medical assisting duties, typing, and basic computer skills.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Attention to detail, good judgment, and team participation.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Respectful and culturally sensitive interaction skills.
