Job summary

UNC Health MG Group Practices in Raleigh, NC seeks a Medical Assistant I, Certified to provide routine clinical and administrative support in an outpatient clinic. You will work under clinical supervision of the provider and under the manager for non-clinical tasks.

The role involves rooming patients, collecting vitals, phlebotomy, medication administration, and assisting with procedures. Certification and BLS required; experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Completion of a Medical Assisting program accredited by CAAHEP or ABHES is strongly preferred but not required.
• Requires Medical Assistant certification by AAMA, AMT, CCMA, NRCMA, or NCMA.
• Basic Life Support Certification (AHA/ARC) required.

Responsibilities

• Rooming and intake with vitals and patient data collection.
• Collects patient history and medication/list details.
• Reviews medication lists and allergies; coordinates with provider.
• Assists during treatments and procedures.
• Performs phlebotomy and specimen collection.
• Administers medications under provider direction.
• Conducts tests (e.g., EKG, eye tests) as directed.
• Ensures exam rooms have supplies and are ready.
• Educates patients with post-visit instructions and materials.
• Manages registration, check-in/out, and scheduling of tests.
