Job summary

Qualifications

  • One year of medical assisting experience in a medical facility preferred.
  • Medical Assisting certification (CMA/CCMA/RMA) is required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain patient medical history and triage and record vital signs.
  • Reconcile medication lists in the EHR for accuracy.
  • Respond promptly to tasks and communicate with the care team.
  • Notify physician of abnormal results such as labs immediately.
  • Scan patient information into the EHR and maintain accuracy.
  • Assist physicians in exam rooms with minor procedures as needed.
  • Coordinate scheduling of surgeries, tests, and admissions.
  • Code diagnoses and procedures for insurance authorizations.
  • Explain procedures to patients and families clearly.
  • Maintain physician surgery schedules and appointments.
  • Answer switchboard and direct calls to the right personnel.
  • Register patients, collect paperwork, insurance cards, and copays.
