VCU Health's Stony Point OBGYN clinic in Richmond, VA is recruiting a Certified Medical Assistant. You will provide direct patient care under the physician, perform medication handling, and support the care plan while maintaining a patient-centered approach.

This role emphasizes teamwork with NPs, MDs, and midwives, offering day shifts Monday–Friday with no weekends, holidays, or nights and free onsite parking at the Stony Point campus.

Qualifications

• One year of medical assistant experience within the last three years if not a graduate of a CMA program.
• Experience using a personal computer and various software applications including Microsoft and e-mail.
• Strong organizational, problem solving, communication and interpersonal skills.

Come join the diverse and fun Stony Point OBGYN team! In the OBGYN Clinic we work with a variety of Nurse Practitioners, Medical Doctors, and Midwives. We are seeking a skilled and compassionate RN to join our clinic and play a key role in providing comprehensive healthcare to our patients. We care for patients across the life span and offer guidance and support with a wide range of women’s health matters. Your dedication to providing exceptional care will contribute to our mission of being the safest hospital in the health system. Our clinic hours are Monday-Friday 8am-4:30pm. No weekends, holidays or nights are required and our team members enjoy free onsite parking at our Stony Point campus.

The Certified Medical Assistant provides direct, age-specific care to a patient or group of patients based on medical orders and the plan of care under the direction of the physician.

Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for Hire: Current Medical Assistant Certification through a recognized national professional association such as, the American Association of Medical Assistants, the American Medical Technologists, The National Association of Healthcare Professions, the American Registry of Medical Assistants, or the National Healthcare Association. Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for continued employment: Current Medical Assistant Certification through a recognized national professional association such as, the American Association of Medical Assistants, the American Medical Technologists, The National Association of Healthcare Professions, the American Registry of Medical Assistants, or the National Healthcare Association. Experience REQUIRED: One (1) year of medical assistant work experience within the last three (3) years if individual is not a graduate of a medical assistant program No work experience if individual is a graduate of a medical assistant program Previous experience using a personal computer and various software applications, including Microsoft, e-mail, etc. Demonstrated experience utilizing strong organizational, problem solving, communication and interpersonal skills Experience PREFERRED: Two (2) to three (3) years of previous experience as a Certified Medical Assistant Previous experience in an academic health care environment Education/training REQUIRED: High School Diploma or equivalent Education/training PREFERRED: Graduation from a Medical Assisting training program from an accredited program of study such as the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES). Independent action(s) required: Functions under direction of a licensed independent practitioner, manager and/or RN in providing patient care, emotional support, and problem solving; all in accordance with hospital, nursing and unit policy/procedure. Requires prior approval or guidance from supervisor: time/schedule changes; legal issues; directed care which deviates from standard; and identify educational resources to meet developmental needs. Job duties may include the handling, transportation, access to and/or contact with medications and related supplies. Supervisory responsibilities (if applicable): N/A Additional position requirements: Certified Medical Assistants work all three shifts, weekends and holidays. Individual shift rotation and schedules will be established with your specific Nurse Manager/Practice Manager. Schedules, including requirements of shift rotations and hours of work may be adjusted as necessary to meet clinic requirements and/or as needed. Compensation Range: $19.00 - $28.51
