Job summary

Trinity Health's Saint Francis Hospital in Wilmington, DE is hiring a Certified Medical Assistant to support ambulatory care and patient examinations. You will assist physicians, prepare exam rooms, document vital signs in the EHR, and coordinate labs and procedures with various departments.

The role requires MA certification from an approved body, a high school diploma, and ideally 1+ year of experience in a physician's office.

Qualifications

• Certified Medical Assistant certification from recognized organizations is required.
• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• 1+ year of MA experience in a physician's office preferred.

Responsibilities

• Show patients to exam room, interview patients, measure vital signs and document in EHR.
• Accurately assess patient symptoms and record data in the medical record.
• Take laboratories, prepare for pick-up and record in the patient EHR, coordinate with departments for lab protocols.
• Set up exam room and assist with procedures per physician preference (e.g., gynecological exams, minor surgeries, biopsies).
• Assist with front office operations including reception, medical records, scheduling and billing.

Position Purpose

Assists the ambulatory care setting physician or other professional healthcare provider with support for patient care and examinations, including exam preparation and lab work. Performs basic medical assisting procedures necessary to provide for care, comfort and safety of patients. This position is a key role serving our community.

As a Certified Medical Assistant, you will:

• Show patients to exam room, interview patients, measure vital signs (i.e. pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height) and document in Electronic Health Record.
• Accurately assesses patient symptoms, reactions, and physical condition and records data in the medical record.
• Take any necessary labs, prepare for pick up and record in the patient electronic health record, communicate with the appropriate departments on protocol for all labs and receiving all information they need for procedures.
• Properly sets up exam room and prepares patients for examinations and procedures. Assists with procedures and examinations per physician/healthcare provider preference, i.e. gynecological exams, minor surgeries, electrocautery, biopsies, sigmoidoscopies, casting, sterile technique procedures, and specimen preparation.
• Maintain knowledge and skills of front office operations. Assists as necessary with reception, medical records, scheduling and billing functions of the office.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Medical Assistant Certification from one of the following organizations: AAMA, AMT, NCCT, AMCA, NHA, NAHP, or NPCE
• High School Diploma or equivalent (required)
• 1+ year of previous Medical Assistant experience in a Physician's office (preferred)
