Job summary

Ascension in Round Rock seeks a Medical Assistant in the OBGyn department. This full-time day-shift role supports the care team by preparing exam rooms, taking vital signs, and documenting patient information to ensure smooth patient flow.

The role requires BLS within 30 days and CMA credentials within 6 months, with benefits including health coverage, retirement plans, and professional development opportunities. Travel not required; on-site in Round Rock, TX.

Qualifications

• BLS Provider certification required within 30 days of hire.
• CMA credential from NHA, AMCA, NCCT, AAMA or AMT required within 6 months of hire.
• High school diploma or equivalent, with related experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead the clinical flow by preparing exam rooms and prioritizing patient transitions to ensure a seamless, stress-free experience for both the provider and the patient.
• Capture the patient’s story by accurately measuring vital signs and interviewing patients to ensure the care team has a clear, real-time clinical picture before every consultation.
• Master clinical documentation by transcribing diagnoses, orders, and follow-up instructions into the patient record, ensuring the accuracy of the care journey from start to finish.
• Optimize the care environment by managing essential supplies and materials, ensuring the team is always equipped to provide uninterrupted patient care.

Licensure / Certification / Registration

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• One or more of the following required:
  • Medical Assistant credentialed from the National Healthcareer Association obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Medical Certification (AMCA) also accepted.
  • Medical Assistant credentialed from the National Association for Health Professionals obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Medical Certification (AMCA) also accepted.
  • Medical Assistant credentialed from the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Medical Certification (AMCA) also accepted.
  • Medical Assistant credentialed from the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Medical Certification (AMCA) also accepted.
  • Medical Assistant credentialed from the American Medical Technologists (AMT) obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Medical Certification (AMCA) also accepted.

Education

• High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
• Note: Required professional licensure/certification can be used in lieu of education or experience, if applicable.

What Additional Preferences We're Seeking

• Travel Required: Georgetown and Pflugerville, TX - as needed
• 1 yr of Women's Health CMA experience
• Bilingual
