Job Responsibilities
- Performs routine nail care.
- Assists physician with diabetic foot exams.
- Rooms patients, removes dressings, cleans wounds, applies dressings and compression wraps.
- Identifies, observes, and documents the physical needs of the patient.
- Reports changes in patient condition.
- Assists patients in transferring and positioning to facilitate appropriate care.
- Provides for or assists patients with activities of daily living as it pertains to care of patients in the Podiatry Clinic.
- Performs pre-visit data gathering and record keeping on new and return patients.
- Executes and documents ongoing patient communication.
- Provides instruction to ensure patient's understanding of medical condition and compliance with treatment instructions.
- Assists with transporting sterile and non-sterile instruments to and from sterile processing.
- Assists in problem solving and troubleshooting in the care and maintenance of equipment and assists in ensuring adequate supplies are available in the Podiatry Clinic.
- Completes necessary charges for appliances and dressings to the patient.
- Orders necessary materials from storeroom and purchasing.
- Prepares and administers medications according to policy and procedure after validation of knowledge and demonstration of competency. May not administer intravenous medications.
- Completes patient tests and treatments per provider’s order according to policy and procedure after validation of knowledge and demonstration of competency.
- Collects and prepares laboratory specimens and completes associated paperwork accurately and efficiently to expedite laboratory studies.
- Performs phlebotomy and may assist in specific laboratory functions relative to the testing, reporting, and quality assurance of laboratory specimens as educated and overseen by the laboratory.
- May have access to non-controlled medication storage/supply areas and can transport non-controlled medications as necessary to meet the needs of the clinic/unit.
- Prepares and cleans instruments.
- Follows protocols for sterilization and disinfection, including high level disinfection of instruments and equipment.
- Participates in quality improvement activities.

Hiring Incentive
This position qualifies for a $3,000 sign-on bonus paid over two years. Certain stipulations do apply.

8-4:30pm
Required Experience
Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) required. Certified by one of the listed governing associations required: NHA, AMT, AAMA, NAHP, NCCT, AAH, or AMCA.
