Responsibilities
- Perform administrative and clinical duties as part of the clinical office staff, including obtaining patient intake information, assisting with tasks and treatments delegated by licensed personnel, and providing direct patient care.
- Schedule tests and procedures ordered by physicians and provide patient education related to these procedures.
- Engage in population-appropriate communication, understanding growth milestones, giving clear instructions, and involving families or guardians when necessary.
- Assist in implementing age-appropriate care, including obtaining vital signs, EKGs, laboratory specimens, and other relevant information.
- Support provider documentation in the Electronic Medical Record, including notes, orders, and prescriptions.
- Maintain clinic area cleanliness and organization, including stocking examination rooms and maintaining diagnostic equipment.
- Handle routine patient communications, such as prescription refills and pre-authorizations, with proper documentation.
- Coordinate ancillary services like diagnostic testing, hospital procedures, and medical record acquisition.
- Maintain professionalism and confidentiality in all interactions, adhering to legal and safety standards.
Administrative Duties
- Use computer applications for answering phones, greeting patients, updating medical records, coding, scheduling, and billing.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or graduate of a medical assistant program.
- Certified or Registered Medical Assistant from AAMA, NHA, NCCT, NAHP, ARMA, or AMT.
- 7 to 11 months of relevant experience preferred.
Skills and Knowledge
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients of all education levels.
- Calm and effective response in emergencies.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
- Proficiency with electronic health record software.
