Job Summary:
LPN - $5K Sign On Bonus (Internal Associates Not Eligible)
This position is responsible for LPN nursing services in a physician office practice, including controlling patient flow, obtaining and documenting patient vitals, performing EKGs, and other nursing duties as assigned.
Medical Assistant
The Medical Assistant manages patient flow, documents vitals, and performs patient care and clerical duties, supporting the mission, vision, values, and strategic initiatives of Mary Washington Healthcare. A commitment to quality service is essential.
LPN Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Provides general nursing care, including obtaining and documenting vitals.
- Rooms patients and facilitates patient flow.
- Assists healthcare providers with examinations, diagnostic procedures, and treatments.
- Obtains patient history, chief complaint, and vitals, documenting in medical records.
- Ensures availability of materials and supplies.
- Provides patient and family education.
- Handles return calls and provides guidance for patient treatment inquiries.
- Assigns patient appointments based on risk and severity.
- Maintains and reviews patient charts and reports.
- Maintains high standards of customer satisfaction and service.
- Schedules patient visits, procedures, tests, radiological exams, and surgeries.
- Ensures necessary films are available for surgeries and appointments.
- Learns front office functions and provides backup support.
- Completes disability forms for provider review.
- Works with third-party payors for authorizations and pre-certifications.
- Provides clinical coverage across various practices as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Medical Assistant Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Greets and escorts patients, ensuring timely service.
- Reviews and obtains reports and results for provider review.
- Documents patient complaints and vitals.
- Prepares exam rooms and reviews patient history forms.
- Assists with examinations, procedures, and specimen collection.
- Documents activities, responses, and prescribed medications.
- Communicates provider instructions to patients within scope of training.
- Follows infection control, safety, and confidentiality policies.
- Refers prescriptions to pharmacies as per provider orders.
- Provides results and information as directed by the provider.
- Assists with scheduling future appointments and tests.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
LPN Qualifications:
- Valid Virginia LPN license required.
- AHA BLS Provider CPR certification required at hire.
- Experience in a physician office preferred.
- Knowledge of infection control, safety, and confidentiality policies required.
Medical Assistant Qualifications:
- Certified Medical Assistant or completed a training program with two years of experience required; certification must be obtained within 18 months if not certified at hire.
- AHA BLS Provider CPR certification required at hire.
- Proficiency in clinical skills such as phlebotomy, blood pressure, EKG, and injections required.
- Experience with Electronic Medical Records preferred.
- Minimum two years of clinical support experience in a medical office preferred.
