Job summary

Tower Health in Reading, PA is seeking a Medical Assistant to support providers by gathering patient information, performing basic clinical tasks, and handling clerical duties. The MA will greet patients, screen calls, schedule appointments, and update electronic medical records, while assisting during examinations.

The role requires a certified/registered MA with BLS, experience not required, and ability to work within Tower Health's patient-centered care team across the Reading Hospital

Qualifications

• Completes and maintains all competencies and trainings as required for role.
• High School Diploma - OR - GED - OR - Graduate of a Medical Assistant Program
• No experience required.
• BLS Certification and a Medical Assistant Certification from AAMA/AMT/NCCT/AMCA/NAHP/NHA (or THMG Leadership Approval for others).

Responsibilities

• Greet patients, answer telephones, schedule appointments and update patients EMR.
• Room patients, take medical histories and record vitals.
• Explain treatment procedures to patients and prepare exam rooms for procedures.
• Assist physicians and nurse practitioners during examinations and facilitate patient flow.

Job Summary

• Medical assistant (MA) is positioned within the workforce to gather, screen, communicate and act based on delegation from a provider, registered nurse or Licensed Practical nurse as per scope of practice.
• The MA performs a combination of clerical and direct patient care duties.
• Clerical responsibilities include greeting patients, answering telephones, scheduling appointments, and updating patients electronic medical record (EMR).
• Clinical responsibilities include rooming patients, taking medical histories, performing and recording vital signs, preparing exam room for procedures, explaining treatment procedures to patients, preparing patients for examination, facilitation of patient flow through the office, and assisting the Physician, Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant during examinations.

Must be a Certified or Registered Medical Assistant

Medical Assistant Certification other than those listed requires THMG Leadership Approval.
