Job summary

Atrium Health in Macon, GA seeks a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA/RMA) to support patient care in a fast-paced clinic setting. You will interview patients, record medical histories, measure vital signs, and update allergy and medication information while delivering compassionate service.

The role requires strong interpersonal skills, critical thinking, and the ability to work as part of a team or independently.

Qualifications

  • Five (5) years of CMA/RMA experience after certification date.
  • CMA II can be pursued without 5 years if SCMA exam passed.
  • Good standing and performance rating with no CFIP within six months.

Responsibilities

  • Interview and record patients' medical information and measure their vital signs.
  • Update health maintenance at patient visit, identify medication changes and update allergy information.
  • Utilize standard precautions; comply with policies and regulatory standards.
  • Conduct CLIA approved waived laboratory tests and practice-specific diagnostics.
  • Perform Point of Care testing per standing order; conduct QC and maintenance as applicable.
  • Develop and implement a treatment plan.
  • Lead lower-level staff by directing and training.
  • Collect, prepare and log blood, tissue or other specimens.
  • Ensure tests are tracked and that results are presented to the care team.
  • Function as an EMR super user.
  • Complete annual in-service and training to maintain professional standards.
  • Complete annual unit-based project

  • Utilizes standard precautions, complies with policies and other Regulatory Agency standards
  • Completes CLIA approved waived laboratory tests and practice-specific diagnostic testing in adherence to CLIA standards
  • Conduct Point of Care testing (POCT) per standing order/provider order. Performs Quality Control and maintenance for Point of Care in-office lab procedures, as applicable
  • Responsible for the development and implementation of a treatment plan.

Physical Requirements

Work consistently requires walking, standing, sitting, lifting, reaching, bending, stooping, pushing, and pulling. Must be able to lift and support the weight of 35 lbs. in handling patients, medical equipment, and supplies. Possible exposure to communicable diseases. Must speak, read, and write Basic English fluently. Intact senses of sight, hearing, smell, and touch. Manual finger dexterity.

Education, Experience And Certifications

High school graduate or equivalent required. Current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS certification required.
Must maintain current certification.
Recognized/certified as a CMA or RMA by one of the following National Organizations:
American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), National Health Career Association (NHA), National Healthcare Worker's Association (NHCWA), National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT), American Registry of Medical Assistants (ARMA) American Medical Technologists (AMT), National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP), National Registry of Medical Assistants (NRMA).

Candidate Must Possess The Following
  • Five (5) years of experience as CMA/RMA after certification date
  • Teammate can become a CMA II, without 5 years of experience, if they pass the Specialty Certified Medical Assistant (SCMA) exam
  • Must be in good standing within department, with performance rating of meets/exceeds expectations in their last performance review with no CFIP within six months.
