Certified Medical Assistant
- Responsible for providing general direct and indirect patient care in a clinical setting under the direct supervision of a physician. Collaborates with the interdisciplinary care team to ensure smooth practice operations and excellent patient care. Works in clerical, administrative, or clinical capacities and may perform specialized tasks as required.
Principal Accountabilities:
- Handles patient intake, updates medical records, and administers screening tools.
- Records medical information and test results, conducts patient interviews, takes and records vital signs, collects specimens, and administers medication under physician supervision.
- Assists with walk-in and scheduled clinic visits, verifies and records clinical data, and maintains quality standards.
- Guides patients through the healthcare system and helps them arrive at scheduled appointments on time.
- Performs vital signs measurement to establish baseline data before examinations.
- Assists physicians during examinations with clinical tasks.
- Collects and prepares laboratory samples, instructs patients on sample collection, or draws blood.
- Demonstrates excellent communication skills, strong work ethic, active listening, adaptability to a fast-paced environment, and professionalism.
- Welcomes patients and schedules appointments efficiently.
- Maintains accurate medical records, including patient histories and vital signs.
- Prepares and sanitizes examination rooms, ensuring readiness for patient visits.
- Provides emotional support aligned with the patient's care plan.
- Assists with patient referrals to specialists.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Schedule:
- Per Diem, Days
- Monday - Friday
- 8:30 am - 4:30 pm
Minimum Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- National Certification CCMA from NHA, AAMA, NAHP, ARMA, AMT, AMCA, or NCCT.
- If certification is expired or pending, a precertification agreement must be signed, or certification must be obtained within 60 days of employment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate's degree in Medical Care or related field.
- At least 1 year of healthcare experience.
- Over 2 years of outpatient or ambulatory care experience.
- Excellent communication, work ethic, active listening, adaptability, and professionalism.
- BLS certification upon hire.
- Experience with EPIC or similar EMR systems.
- Ability to operate within computer systems effectively.
